How to Get Peak-Time Padel Courts at Busy UK Clubs
Jamie Holt3 October 2026

If you play after work, you know the problem. The evening court you want is often gone by the time you open the app. Courts are not released at random. Every club opens its bookings on a schedule, and once you know that schedule, your chances go up a lot.
New to the apps? The step-by-step booking guide covers Playtomic, Matchi, and booking direct.
1. Find out how far ahead your club opens
Clubs on Playtomic and similar apps open their courts a fixed number of days in advance. Across the UK clubs we track, about a third open 7 days ahead and roughly one in five opens 14 days ahead, but we have seen anything from 2 to 28 days.
Check your club's app, or ask at reception: "How many days ahead can I book, and at what time do new slots appear?"
2. Know how your club releases its courts
Clubs usually work in one of two ways.
Whole day at once
All courts for a given date appear together, at a set time of day. If your club works like this, being online at that exact time is what matters.
Rolling release
Each slot opens exactly N days before its own start time. With a 7-day window, next Wednesday's 8pm court appears this Wednesday at 8pm. In most of the UK clubs where we have been able to measure it, this is how courts are released. The best moment to book an evening court is usually in the evening, not first thing in the morning.
Getting this wrong is a very common reason people miss out. They check in the morning for a slot that opened the evening before.
3. Why the 90-minute slot tends to go first
Booking apps only offer the durations that are still possible on a court. At one club we watched, an evening court was offered as 60 or 90 minutes the moment it opened, and only as 60 minutes an hour later, once the following slot had been taken.
If you want a 90-minute evening game, book right at release. If 60 minutes is fine, you will find more options later on.
4. Check the club's booking rules
Some clubs limit how many courts one player can hold, or how many bookings you can make on the same day. If you book a court at 6pm "just in case", you may be blocked from taking the 7:30pm one you actually wanted.
Some clubs also give members a longer booking window or a better price. If you play at the same club every week, membership can be worth it just for access.
5. Be ready before the slot opens
At popular clubs, being quick can make the difference:
- Stay logged in to the app.
- Save your payment method in advance.
- Know exactly which court, time, and duration you want, and your plan B.
- Keep a second nearby club in mind for the same evening.
6. Let a tool do the waiting for you
If you can't be on your phone at the exact release time every week, tools can help. Padel Snipe (padelsnipe.com) watches your clubs, learns when each one releases its courts, and books the slot you want the moment it opens, on your own account and at the club's normal price. It also keeps an open atlas of padel clubs if you are looking for new places to play.
In short
Peak-time courts are won at release time. Learn your club's window and how it releases its courts, choose your duration wisely, check the booking rules, and be ready when the slot opens.
