What’s my padel level?

Answer eight quick questions about your game to estimate where you sit on the 1.0–7.0 padel scale, and which open matches to book.

Question 1 of 8

How much padel have you played?

How padel levels work

Most UK clubs and apps use a scale from about 1.0 to 7.0, popularised by Playtomic. Open matches list a level range, such as 2.5–3.5, so everyone on court has a good game. Join a match too high and you’ll struggle; too low and the others won’t enjoy it. Our guide to padel player levels explains each band in detail.

What the calculator looks at

Your level is mostly about the skills that are unique to padel. Playing off the back glass and handling overheads with a bandeja count for more than raw power, because that’s what separates beginners from club players. Experience and match results matter too. A tennis or squash background helps a little, but it doesn’t teach you the walls.

After you get your result

Set your level in the app a little lower than your result if you’re unsure. Ratings go up quickly with wins, and it’s better than spending your first open matches outclassed. The calculator also picks out your weakest area. Our free AI padel coach can build a practice session around it. Then find a court near you and book a game at the right level.

Frequently asked questions

What padel level should a beginner choose?+

If you’ve played fewer than ten sessions, set yourself between 1.0 and 2.0 and book open matches in the 1.0–2.5 range. Once you win about half your games there, move up half a level.

What level is an intermediate padel player?+

Roughly 3.0–4.0: a consistent serve, returning most balls off the back glass, attempting the bandeja, and moving up and back with your partner.

Is this the same as my Playtomic level?+

No. Playtomic sets your level from match results against rated opponents. This calculator is a self-assessment to give you a sensible starting point and tell you which open matches to join.

I play tennis. What padel level am I?+

Good tennis players often start around 2.0–3.0. Groundstrokes and volleys carry over, but playing off the glass and the bandeja are new skills. Start a band lower than you think and you’ll move up quickly.
