How Many Padel Courts Are in the UK?

How many padel courts are in the UK? As of June 2026, Padel Court Finder lists 385 clubs across 179 towns and cities, totalling 1,000+ individual courts when you count indoor, outdoor, and covered lanes at each venue.
That number shifts every month. A static blog post from last year is already wrong. Treat any round figure as a snapshot, not gospel.
Why there is no official national count
Padel grew faster than any central register could track. New courts launch in leisure centres, tennis clubs, and standalone venues without a single filing body capturing them all. Governing bodies publish participation data, not a live court inventory.
Directories that scrape club websites, take operator submissions, and verify bookings stay closest to reality. Ours updates as venues go live.
Where courts cluster
| Region | What we see on the directory |
|---|---|
| London & South East | Highest density; premium indoor centres plus club add-ons |
| North West (Manchester, Liverpool) | Strong growth in purpose-built sites |
| West Midlands | Birmingham hub plus suburban tennis-club conversions |
| South West | Bristol, Exeter, coastal leisure parks |
| Scotland & Wales | Smaller totals but steady new openings |
Drill into cities on the site: padel in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol.
Indoor vs outdoor split
Most listings mix formats at the same address. Indoor courts dominate new urban builds because they stack evening revenue year-round. Outdoor lanes are common at tennis clubs and holiday parks. Covered courts sit between the two.
When you search by postcode, filter by facility type to see what is actually bookable near you, not just what exists on paper.
Growth drivers
Demand from doubles social play, tennis clubs monetising spare land, and operators copying Spanish padel-centre models all push the count up. Build economics are covered in our 2026 build cost guide. Player pricing in our booking cost guide.
How to check your area
- Search by postcode on the homepage or browse all padel courts.
- Open your city page for a full venue list with court counts.
- Compare indoor, outdoor, and covered options before you book.
That beats relying on a headline number that ages out in weeks.
Are there more courts than last year?
Yes. The directory adds venues weekly. If your town had zero courts twelve months ago, check again before assuming nothing has changed.
The national total will keep climbing until supply catches up with evening peak demand in major cities. Until then, the only useful number is the one for your postcode today.
